6 Other Book Series I Won’t Be Finishing

Posted December 11, 2017 by Vildea in Books, Lists / 0 Comments

I recently wrote a post called 6 Book Series I Won’t Be Finishing and mentioned that there would probably be a part 2 (and probably more later on) as there’s quite a lot of book series that I have started but not finished.

Again like last time I have to mention a couple of things; just because I’m not finishing this series doesn’t necessarily mean that I hate it or that no one else should read it. It just means that it wasn’t quite my thing, I read it too long ago or it didn’t leave an impression.

Same as last time this list isn’t in any particular order either, however there are some books on this list that I might actually pick up again. However, I’ll talk more about which ones and why further down. I might change my mind about some as well, but for the most part I rather doubt it.

With that out of the way, let’s go!

1. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

I should preface this by saying that I loved this book immensely and still do. I thought it was fabulous and I actually want to re-read this book.

So, why is it on this list you ask? Well, it is part of a series, but it kind of finishes in a way that doesn’t really make you feel like you need to read the sequel (which is focused on different characters if I remember correctly).

And so while I really loved this book, I’m not sure if the second one can live up to it and I’d much rather re-read this one than ruin the entire series (possibly) if the second book isn’t as good.

2. I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies) by Pittacus Lore

So here is one that I definitely won’t be finishing and haven’t read in quite a long time. The books themselves aren’t terribly, not fantastic either, but perfectly alright. What’s not so alright are the practices used by the creator of this series and so I’m not going to support it.

3. Court of Fives by Kate Elliott

This is a pretty recent title and one that I’m not 100% sure that I won’t be continuing although at the moment I don’t really feel like doing it.

At the time I read it I thought it was alright (review here), but that it was slightly formulaic and a little too easy to guess where things were going. I’ve looked at the sequel a couple of times but have as of yet not felt the urge to pick it up and see where things are going, so for now I doubt I will finish this.

4. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

This is another pretty old series that I honestly don’t remember much about except that it had fairies in it. I did quite like the concept and I am sometimes almost tempted to re-read it, but so far that hasn’t happened. I might give it a go at some point, but given how many other books I want to read, I don’t think it will be anytime soon.

5. XVI by Julia Karr

So when I first read this book I really enjoyed it (I gave it 5 stars on GoodReads), but if I’m going to be perfectly honest now, I don’t really remember that much of it anymore.

I remember there being a girl and something happening to her mother where she disappears. And that there’s something about turning 16 in this world that’s really bad. I think she’s also looking for her father…

As you can see, I don’t remember much and at this point in time I see little reason to re-read it and decide if I want to continue it or not since I don’t really feel anything about it anymore.

6. Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

So this is probably blasphemy of some kind I suppose, but… I never finished the Hunger Games series. I can’t even remember if I read the sequel (GoodReads says no, so we’ll trust that) and I really doubt that I ever will.

I liked it when I read it and I did actually mean to get back to it for a really long time, I meant to watch the movies as well. But then I just… didn’t.

If you look through this list you’ll see that there’s quite a few other dystopian books on this list and I think that’s a contributing factor to why I never finished this series.

I might watch the movies at some point but… eh, I don’t really want to do that either right now.

So there you have another 6 book series that I sincerely doubt I will be finishing. I suspect if I go looking that I will find more, but for now I’m going to take a break from lists about things I (probably) won’t be finishing. Instead I’ll move onto series I want to continue and series I want to finish so look out for those posts!

Do you have any series you won’t be finishing?
