Want to Watch Wednesdays is a bi-weekly feature where I look at some of the shows and movies I want to watch. Some are completely new and others have been out for awhile, but for one reason or another I haven’t watched it yet.
I’ve wanted to have someplace where I could ramble about the shows and movies that I want to watch for awhile now, so I knew right of the bat that it would be one of the first features for Oddish. I’m never short on things I want to watch, so I look forward to talking about what I’m looking into watching these days.
Netflix will start us off, though I should warn you – I’m so behind on TV that’s not Asian that you’re probably going to cringe, you have been warned.
To start us off we have Stranger Things, I’ve had this recommended to be quite a few times and it really looks like something I’d enjoy. So I’m going to start watching it this week. For those new to this title, I’ve left the blurb from IMDB below;
When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back. – from IMDB
Another one from Netflix is Jessica Jones, I technically watched the first episode ages ago while visiting a friend of mine. I told her I would continue it on my own when I left and… Ooops? Either way, I do plan on starting it over and watching it since I quite liked it. Blurb is below in case you need it.
A former superhero decides to reboot her life by becoming a private investigator. – from IMDB
Moving onto something quite different, we have an historical fantasy drama from Korea, namely Hwarang. I’ve been waiting on this for awhile and I really want to watch one of the male leads, Park Seo Joon as I watched him Witch’s Romance and really enjoyed that. The blurb isn’t too telling and I just hope it won’t be quite as tragic as Moon Lovers turned out to be.
Drama series depicts the story of Hwarang (literally “Flowering Knights”) – an elite group of male youth in during the Kingdom of Silla. – from MDL
I finished watching Go Ho’s Starry Night recently (I’ll probably make a post about it soon) and I quite like the atmosphere in it and I came across Momin’s Room, which while not exactly the same, does sound like it could be an interesting watch, plus the trailer looked quite nice. It’s also a short drama, 10 episodes at 12 minutes each. It is also an “idol” drama (which means that one of the actors is an idol, in this case it’s Lee Ki Kwang who’s part of the boy group BEAST), which I’m generally vary of but since it’s a short drama, I’m willing to give it a go.
‘Momin’s Room’ will talk about how today’s youth deals with love, friendship, and family while weaving in informational content about copyright. The main character is 23-year-old Momin, who moves from Jeju Island to Seoul and builds lasting friendships. – from MDL
Last, but certainly not least (if I’m honest I might be more excited, and worried, about this movie, than any of the other shows on this list) we have Fantastic Beasts. I was, and am, a big Harry Potter fan and I love the world (I was, for almost 5 years a member of an online roleplaying forum set in that world) so I’m really happy to go back. I’m hoping it’ll live up to my expectations!
The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. – from IMDB
So there you have it, some of the shows and films that I’m looking forward to watching. Are you looking forward to anything? And are you as behind on things as I am?
Next week I’ll be posting my Wishlist Wednesday feature and in two weeks I’ll be posting another Want to Watch feature, so if you’ve got any recommendations, feel free to share them below!
